DEGA DARLINS

Dega Darlins 2011

Dega Darlins 2011

2011-2012 year

The year is off to a great start!  The summer rehearsals have been outstanding and will only get better from here.  I look forward to what the year has to offer both during Marching Season and Winter Guard.  No doubt this group is going to be as stellar as ever.  Be sure that you are keeping an eye on the calendar and stay up to date on times, rehearsals and such.

Robbyn will be making posts from time to time so be sure to check in from time to time.
See you Tuesday!

Hi.  Happy Spring BREAK!

I just wanted to remind you to look at the Calendar on Dega Band .  It has been updated with MANY rehearsals for the next two weeks.

Look at it close and often.  The times are slightly sporadic.  I tried to move them around and fit in groups where we could to get the most out of what we need.

I am looking forward to the mad dash to the finish in Nashville.  REST UP!

Update

The Calendar has been updated for this week.  Please view it for rehearsals and times!  All rehearsals this week will be at ZEJH!

*be sure your fees are up to date.
** do not forget items for rehearsal such as.... brown chiffons and uniforms when you are scheduled to need them.

Jai Ho

JAI HO!!!!!!!!
I told Mr. McD the other day that I feel like I should just say that to say hello..... JAI HO! It's fitting!  :)
Anyway, as the 2011winter guard year officially begins I want to take a minute and reminisce about the struggles of last year and the road less traveled.  Many of you give sacrifices daily.... whether its a little extra time at practice, a friday night painting a floor, or simply the stress of the season......yet we can't WAIT for the seaons to begin.  It is events such as those that make us who we are and the group you have become.  Those of you who performed this show last year and even those that didn't KNOW the struggles that the year presented, but in the end... perseverance, dedication and total awesomeness prevailed.  It was a long road from field day to that final performance and the road was B...U..M...P...Y....and the things that we thought would surely kill us we laugh at the most now..... uh.....kelsey's TOE! just to mention one.
I hope as this year begins that we are able to create memories like these this year and no matter the outcome I hope you have a blast throughout the winter guard year, growing, performing, and being sisters..... The road will be long, the task hard but the end result will be nothing but something for you to cherish forever no matter where you place numerically. I look forward to this journey and welcome the ride!!!!   JAI HO!
And by the way.... if you find yourself holding your breath and your heart beating fast... like I did... just as if it were the actual performance..... take a deep breath and calm down.... just to let you know they WIN.. I didn't want you to die from suspense!  :)

SNOW

Hi Ladies!

I know I mentioned recently that we needed to begin using this resource once again.  What better time than right now to do so!  I hope you guys are enjoying the snow.  You should have received texts from Kelsey, however, the calendar has been updated as well.  Please be patient over the next few days as we attempt to get in some practice time before field day.

I have some times set aside, but as you know they are not definite until we know if we have a gym available or not.  I will let you know finalized details ASAP.

Have some fun in the snow!  :)

Hi Ladies....

I hope that you all are enjoying your summer.  I know that Kelsey has already sent you a text, but I wanted to remind everyone on here as well about the meeting on Tuesday, June 15th, from 10am-12noon.  Basically we need to take care of some business items... sizes, ordering info, and such.

We will also take individual pics. since I did not get them before school was out.
Old DD (2009-2010) will need to bring your pep-rally uniform and your fall show "gotta dance" uniform.  Hair should be in a bun and regular make-up is fine.  If you would like for me to take an individual of you in your winter guard uniform, I will...bring it too
NEW DD - (2010-2011) will need to bring your blue dress.  Hair in a bun as well and make-up.

* these are pics from the front... you do not have to go to a salon or spend hours on your bun... as long as it looks good from the front you are fine. :)

Also Remember your payments.  The second June payment is due on the day of the meeting.  Kelsey also sent a text stating that the Band Office was closed last week, so if you did not get the 1st June payment in you could hold it until Tuesday.  One check or two is fine.

I am looking forward to seeing you guys! See you TUESDAY!

NEW CAMP DATES are:

Thursday, June 24th; 5pm-9pm at THS
Friday, June 25th; 9am-5pm at THS
Saturday, June 26th; 8am-12 noon at THS

Notice... there is a full band rehearsal on the calendar prior to this on Tuesday, June 22nd... for the ENTIRE band.  We will spend time on weapons that night... bring your gloves!

Very proud of you ladies!  I am looking forward to a GREAT YEAR... 14 Strong!  :)

Just a reminder that tryout clinic for Dega Darlins and Dega Darlin Addition begins tomorrow April 5th at THS.

If you have not picked up an information packet, you may do so in the band office.  You must have your fee and form to stay for clinic so be sure you take care of it.

Any Young lady that will be in the 9th-12th grade next school year, 2010-2011, may audition.  No experience is required.  See you there!

This WEEK!!!!

The time is quickly approaching.... I CANNOT believe we are wrapping up the 4th Winter Guard season for the Dega Darlins.  I am very excited about the trip coming up and I am even more excited about the dedication, hard work and preparation that I have seen from such an AMAZING group of talented young ladies.  :)

A few last minute details to help us as we get closer to departure.

  • The Itinerary online is correct.  We do have the performance times that are within that block, but overall everything stays pretty much the same.  When you receive the official itinerary on Friday morning you will the exact time that we discussed posted.  Also, instead of going downtown for dinner, we will go for lunch, which will give us more time. In the meantime if you have questions ASK!
  • We discussed the possibility of going to Wild Horse as a group.  As of right now, enough people have not turned in their information.  If they do by this afternoon then we will go, if not then we will not.  I will let you know when I am positive.
  • TRAVEL FORMS ARE PAST DUE!!!!!!
  • INTERSTATE:  There is a large delay on I-65 North around the Cullman exit.  It has been advised that we find an alternate route due to the fact the delay has taken up to 2 hours, which we do not have in our schedule.  It is only 20 more minutes according to google maps to go to Gadsden, get on I-59 and go North to Chattanooga then over to Nashville.  The total trip being 4 hours and 23 minutes as opposed to 4 hours. The downfall is that they are doing construction here as well and it is a one lane road... however, the traffic moves at a consistent pace here and will not slow us too much.
  • Friday Lunch.... We will still stop at Steak 'n shake on the way up.  We will just stop at a different location.  It is actually still about 30 minutes outside of Nashville like before...I will have a map for the location... it is right on the interstate.  (Symrna, TN)
I believe that is all for now.  See you this afternoon, for another STELLAR rehearsal.

updates!

HI Ladies!
SCGC Championships... right around the corner... YAY!

With Spring break ending and school starting back you know we have  A LOT of work to do and a little time to do it.  Please check the calendar on Dega Band for updated times.  You will notice that Brian is coming on both Monday and Tuesday.  You will also notice that he is working on both days with both you and the Addition.  In order to make this possible we had to rearrange some of the times.  He wanted for you guys to be last so it pushed your time back some.  Please review the times and make needed arrangements.  Also, remember that we will go to Ellis during 5th everyday this coming week.

If you did not notice the video from Brooks is posted below.  Also, the judges had some very good comments about what you are already doing and some things we can work on to make it even better.  You know that we have a few changes to make and things to adjust this week.  With the hard work you have shown so far this year and the great dedication I have no doubt that this is going to be an outstanding week.  It will be tiring, but I encourage you to push through, take your vitamins, get lots of sleep and push to the end, hopefully, for a very rewarding experience.  This is going to be a busy yet fun week for sure.  Don't forget to express thanks to Brian.  He will be driving TWO days from Atlanta and then to Nashville on Friday!

You will have the updated Itinerary as soon as I get the times.  I received an email stating that final times would be issued before 5pm on Monday.  If I get them before your practice you will get them on Monday at rehearsal, if not, you will get them Tuesday.  On Friday you when you arrive at ZEJH to depart you will receive a packet of needed information for the trip; maps, itinerary, addresses, phone #'s and such.  In the meantime if you have questions ask Lacey, Me or Mr. McDaniel.

See you Soon!

Here is the video from Brooks.... you will have to ignore the heads of the audience and the nice black bar, but enjoy!  I am also uploading the Dega Addition and Ellis Emeralds to their blog... so check it out!  :)

Hi All.

The itinerary for Nashville has been posted on the calendar. You can also link to it by clicking HERE.
Keep in mind it is a VERY rough draft, but should help you see what to expect to help you make plans for the trip.

A detailed and up to date Itinerary will be posted on Monday, March 22, 2010, when the official schedule is released by the SCGC.

Hi Ladies!

I am so proud of you guys and the stride forward you made tonight.  We could not ask for a better group of hardworking and dedicated young ladies.  Keep up the good work as we continue through the week and head toward the Competition this weekend.  :)

ORDERS DUE!

ALL Krispy Kreme Doughnut orders are due on MONDAY, March 8, 2010, before the end of the school day.

Be sure that you have clearly marked ALL orders and collected the money for those orders placed.

Hi Ladies.

Good showing at Hoover on Saturday.  Congrats on your Third place finish.  We have LOTS of work to do over the next few weeks that will require group and individual effort.  Keep up the good work and push hard for the next few weeks as we head toward championships... next stop.. Killen, AL.

Click here for the Brooks High School; Killen, AL itinerary.

Be prepared to dress out daily during class time between now and championships.

F.Y.I

Just to let you know.  The Hoover updates did not effect us.  The only thing that changed is that the Dega Darlins will go on at 8:03 instead of 8:05.  You can still use the itinerary that I gave you for Hoover.  It is linked in an earlier post if you lost it.  Scroll down.... :)

I received an email from the SCGC Contest director stating that the Hoover Competition would have time changes and could vary up to 20 minutes from what I originally gave you.  I am not sure in what direction the time changes will occur.  As soon as I have the NEW schedule I will get it to you. I should have it some time onMonday.
